Macrolane

Macrolane is made of Hyaluronic Acid, a substance which is found throughout the body.  Macrolane is a filler for soft tissue areas of the body including buttocks, calves and breasts.  The treatment involves injecting stabilised Hyaluronic Acid into a particular area and then moulding to the desired shape. The benefit of the treatment is that it is performed under local anaesthetic and will leave no scarring, however there will be swelling and discomfort  for a few days should be expected. The treatment will last approximately 12 months, after which time further injections will be required to maintain the effect.

Please note that Macrolane is not suitable for all candidates. In relation to Breast Augmentation, Macrolane can only be used for patients wanting a small Breast Augmentation, usually one cup size.  For those patients wanting a larger Breast Augmentation, surgery and implants may be required.

Currently, to administer Macrolane to patients, the clinic would be required to obtain TGA approval on a case by case basis.  At this stage,  we are advising patients interested in having Macrolane to book for a consultation and should they wish to proceed with the treatment, TGA approval would be sought for that case.  The patient needs to be aware that not all approvals sought are granted.
