A Guide to Breast Reduction

Breast reduction surgery is a cosmetic surgery procedure that is common among many women. One set of markings will relate to position of the breasts as a woman is sitting up straight. This will help the surgeon to make incisions during surgery.

The surgeon usually makes drawings in the area of the areola and above. The areola is the dark area that surrounds the nipple. The markings continue from there and come down to where the nipple will be relocated. There are also markings that come underneath the nipple area and traced on the crease area under a woman’s breasts.

The areas that the cosmetic surgeon will focus on include the fatty and glandular tissues and the skin. These three areas are affected by the breast reduction surgery because the surgeon will remove extra components from these areas.
